People living with psychosis endure some harsh stigmas surrounding mental illness. OTR worked with mental health care professionals and individuals suffering from psychosis to create an alternative perspective on what it is like to experience different forms of psychosis. The film was screened to 400 people at the Merging Minds mental health conference and was subsequently integrated into mental health training packages by the mental health commissioner of NSW. It’s also being used in training workshops run by What If … and Sydney University is exploring integrating it into second year psychology curricula.
“Jordan created a short film with our clients who are living with schizophrenia. She was challenged to quickly form relationships necessary for exploring the delicate experiences of living with this illness – a difficult feat, especially for someone outside of the mental health industry – however, she was able to communicate naturally with them and conveyed their complex social issues beautifully in the film.”
