The Taliban Decimated Afghanistan’s Film Industry. This Is What Survived.
Movies have always been part of Afghanistan’s rich culture. In the 1990s, the Taliban destroyed countless reels of film dating back to the 1920s. Some brave people working in Afghan Film at the time hid many reels from the Taliban. And now archivists at Afghan Film Archive are working to restore and digitize these hidden reels.
